Select a credential profile for the devices in the IP range or create a new profile if required.
To discover devices using IP address or IP range, select IP address slash range option. You can add up to five different IP address ranges in the following formats:
10.34.*.*
10.34.1-10.*
10.34.*.1-10
10.34.1-10.1-10
or 10.34.1.1/24
To discover devices by entering multiple hostnames or IP addresses separated by commas, select the Individual hostname slash IP address option. You can enter them in the following formats: IP address, hostnames, or a combination of IP addresses and hostnames In this video, we will discover devices using IP address/range option. Click Add to add multiple ranges, if necessary. Select the frequency in which secure connect gateway must run the rule. To run the rule later, you must select a specific date and time.
To periodically run the rule, select the day, time and interval. Disable Perform deep discovery if you do not want to discover devices associated with the primary devices. disable ‘Enable and configure alerts and events’, if it is not applicable. Click Create Rule Select the device types you want to discover using the credential profile and click Proceed. Based on the frequency selected, the rule is run immediately or later.
You can track the progress in the Status column or click the rule to view more information about the discovery process. Note that during discovery, all the devices in the IP range are pinged. A device is discovered and inventoried in secure connect gateway as and when the device responds to the ping. However, the status shows as Preparing until secure connect gateway pings all devices in the IP range For more information or support, visit: Dell.com/SCG-VE or Dell.com/SCG-App.
